Winter Workshop

Quaker Meeting House, LE2 1WP | Saturday 21st December 2024 | £50

In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. Albert Camus

Honour the winter solstice with Zoë Martin & Hayley Bennett. The word “solstice” comes from the Latin solstitium meaning “sun stands still”. This afternoon is an opportunity to pause and mirror the slower, quieter rhythms of midwinter. Slow, meditative yoga practices and shamanic drumming will restore quietness and calmness, naturally increasing a  sense of openness, brightness and clarity.

Zoë Martin

Zoë Martin has over 25 years experience of teaching yoga in the UK and Europe. Her passion for mindful movement entwined with a deep awareness of breath, simplicity, intuition and inventiveness supports people to discover, experience, understand and embody the practice of yoga. Zoë continues to explore yoga with her teacher Sandra Sabatini.

Hayley Bennett

Hayley is a tarot reading, energy healer and shamanic practitioner who has been helping people for over 20 years. Her purpose is to awaken the power within, bringing clarity and longed for transformation into people's lives. Using her drum she will lead you safely on a personal shamanic journey where you re-connect with your true self and empower your next steps.

Home, a Dwelling Place

The gentle undulation that comes while searching for effortless alignments is a valid tool in activating the navel, which clears the excessive noise gathered within it. When time, attentiveness and touch are given to this area, quietness enters and clarity naturally follows. Returning home, a dwelling place.

The Whole Body Breathing - Sandra Sabatini & Michal Havkin

The Workshop - THIS WORKSHOP IS FULLY BOOKED

The workshop will incorporate some Feldenkrais movements facilitating a playful and different experience of yoga positions. The unfolding of the body will go along with the unfolding of the breath supported by a slow and meditative approach

Sandra Sabatini

The key to this unfolding is the breath; and in Sandra's hands, awareness of the breath becomes a radical and intensely powerful tool capable of stripping away tension, tightness and toxins, and restoring the body and mind to balance.

Michal Havkin

Michal Havkin has over three decades of experience dancing professionally in Israel and around the world. These roots, woven in with her long-term study with Sandra, support the discovery of new levels of awareness and minute changes within the body.

Sandra and Michal have been teaching together for the past 18 years and share an interest in exploring movements and breath. Throughout the sessions they will divide the teaching between them, with practices that complement each other.

spirals around the spine

spirals around the spine

"We have to avoid angular movements and adopt circular, spiral ones. As flies and bees do when aiming for a definite spot. The body will accept round movements, born from the spine, and therefore leading to a total action. This kind of spiral gesture penetrates in depth and can bring about unexpected results.”
